It's 1925 and Archaeologist and Egyptologist Lady Cecilia Kirton has returned home to Crediton with her latest discovery, a pricelss artefact, recently unearthed in the Valley of the Kings, the Ring of Pharaoh Thutmose the Great. The upper-echelons of 1920s Crediton society have gathered for a celebratory meal to welcome Lady Kirton home, unaware that jealousy lurks, deceit lingers and an ancient curse is about to strike. Amongst the distinguished guests are Lady Kirton's disreputable husband, Sir Charles Kirton, fellow Egyptologist and socialite, Clarissa Crimson and intrepid local newpaper reporter, Dorothy Digby. Also on hand is Mid-Devon's finest gentleman detective, Hector Harbottle. Who lives? Who dies? Who dunnit?
